Walker Cup Volunteers

January 19, 2016

Dear Prospective Walker Cup Volunteer,

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the 2017 Walker Cup at The Los Angeles Country Club. The Walker Cup is a unique and enjoyable event, and the help of dedicated volunteers is essential to its success. The 2017 event is September 8-10, with official practice on the 8th, and two rounds of matches on each the 9th and 10th.

Above, you will find a description of the various assignments for which we are looking for volunteers. As the event is still several months away, some of these assignments might change. However, as you will see on the Application Form, we are interested in your views as to what assignments you might prefer. We cannot guarantee that each volunteer will receive his or her first or second choice of assignments; that will depend on our needs and the number of people who express an interest in each assignment.

Volunteers will receive one Volunteer Pass (which includes parking) to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They will also receive one uniform shirt and one hat or visor. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day of the competition. Volunteers will generally be expected to work three five or six hour shifts during the two full days of competition, Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers will also be required to attend a two or three-hour training session in the weeks prior to the competition. Certain volunteer jobs have special requirements that are noted in the descriptions below.

To apply to work as a volunteer, complete the application above, and we will get back to you with further information. Do not worry if you do not hear from us until the Summer of 2017, as that is when we will be making final assignments.

Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to working with you.

2017 Walker Cup Committee
