Humana Challenge Ups the Excitement for 2014

The 2014 Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation takes place January 13-19 as 156 PGA TOUR professionals play the Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus Private Courses at PGA WEST and La Quinta Country Club over 72 holes for a $5.6 million purse.
As the 55th edition of one of the PGA TOUR’s most tradition-steeped tournaments nears, Southern California golf fans have an opportunity to be part of the storied and glorious history of this iconic Coachella Valley event in a variety of ways. The Humana Challenge’s mission has always focused on supporting charitable organizations in the Coachella Valley while providing a world-class venue and tournament.

Since 1960, Desert Classic Charities, the nonprofit entity that organizes the Humana Challenge, has donated more than $52 million to Eisenhower Medical Center and numerous other nonprofit organizations in the Coachella Valley.

The Humana Challenge does not continue without the enthusiastic participation of its fans, pro-am players and the more than 1,200 volunteers that set the stage for the tournament every year. Those interested in obtaining tickets, hospitality packages, or playing spots in one of the event’s three pro-am events or in volunteering for the tournament are encouraged to visit www.humanachallenge.com for more details.

TICKETS

HumanaChallenge.com features all event ticket options for sale and includes pre-tournament ticket specials for Daily Grounds Tickets and Weekly Patron Badges. Popular ticket offers include the Wednesday Pro-Am grounds ticket, the Senior’s Daily Ticket, the Daily Clubhouse Ticket, and the Weekly Member Badge.

Additionally, limited credentials are available to exceptional hospitality venues including Club 17, a venue along the 17th hole of the Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA WEST, and the Bob Hope Club surrounding the 18th green of the Palmer Course. The Bob Hope Club offers the tournament’s most premium fan experience – climate-controlled, indoor seating with televisions and scoring computers, tiered patio seating overlooking the 18th green, breakfast and lunch buffets, snacks and premium bar service, a valet parking pass at PGA WEST, and complimentary programs and daily pairings guides.

PRO-AM TOURNAMENTS

The most action-packed way to immerse oneself in the Humana Challenge is by teeing it up in one of three tournament pro-am events. The Humana Challenge Pro-Am continues to give amateurs the chance to play with the PGA TOUR professionals during the first three rounds of the tournament (Thursday-Saturday) on all three tournament courses, but with a new twist.

Under the new format, the three amateurs with the lowest net score and three amateurs with the lowest gross score after the first three rounds will play with a PGA TOUR professional in Sunday’s final round; thus enabling the best amateurs to test their nerve and game within a final-round atmosphere. The new format has proved to be quite compelling as the Humana Challenge Pro-Am sold out in October and has a waiting list of alternates.

The brand-new Club Team Challenge Pro-Am – Monday, January 13 on the Jack Nicklaus Private Course – features three amateur members of the same club, their PGA Club Pro and a PGA TOUR professional in an 18-hole competition to determine which team holds local bragging rights and displays the commemorative championship trophy at the winner’s club for an entire year.

The Bob Hope Legacy Pro-Am presented by Cobra Puma Golf – contested on Wednesday, January 15 on the Arnold Palmer Private Course – teams a foursome of amateurs with a PGA TOUR professional over 18 holes.

The Club Team Challenge and Bob Hope Legacy pro-am events include a meet-and-greet and instruction with World Golf Hall of Famer Gary Player, a custom-fit, newly-introduced Cobra BIO CELL driver and many other luxurious amenities. Both events offer VIP packages that include four-day memberships for two to the Bob Hope Club, the tournament’s highest-level hospitality venue.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteers are the lifeline of every PGA TOUR event and provide behind-the-scenes access to the tournament and its players.
The Humana Challenge always seeks new and returning volunteers to work in many departments: Club Marshal, Mobile Device, Club Security, Hospitality, Concierge, Transportation, Admissions/Will Call, Scoreboard Operator, ShotLink, Walking Scorer and Player Registration.
