June 12, 2013

SCGA Executive Director Kevin Heaney will appear on the Farmers Insurance Inside the Ropes radio show this Saturday morning. The show airs every Saturday from 8-9 a.m. on the San Diego-based 1700AM ESPN and is hosted by U-T San Diego golf writer and FORE Magazine contributor Tod Leonard and Farmers Insurance Open Executive Director Peter Ripa.

Kevin began his work with the SCGA in 1984 as Director of Rules and Competitions. Following nine years in this role, Kevin assumed the position of Director of Course Rating, an assignment that lasted 10 years. In 2003, Kevin was promoted to Assistant Director of the SCGA and was named Executive Director in 2006 upon the retirement of Tom Morgan.

Aside from the functions associated with his job responsibilities, Kevin has participated in many activities including USGA committees (Green Section, Course Rating, Regional Associations), California Alliance for Golf, is a board member of the International Association of Golf Administrators, works actively with the SCGA Foundation and has served on a variety of advisory committees (PGA, UC Riverside Turf, City and County of Los Angeles Golf, and the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission).

He will speak with Leonard and Ripa about the benefits of an SCGA membership, challenges facing the golf industry and more.
