Meet Kevin Gigax
Executive Director, SCGA Junior
Kevin joined the SCGA in 2006 as the first staff member of the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation. In his tenure, the organization has developed from a staff of one to a full- and part-time staff of 13, allowing SCGA Junior to serve nearly 4,000 kids annually. Through support of the board, volunteer and donors, Kevin has successfully developed and implemented three strategic plans that have taken the organization from one that makes grants to an active youth development service provider that teaches golf, creates access to golf, inspires kids through golf, helps them pursue their education and provides college scholarships. Kevin is responsible for the strategy, funding and program development of SCGA Junior as it strives to impact more youth in more communities. He has also completed the Certificate in Fund Raising Management from The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and is certified through the Title Performance Institute. “I enjoy seeing how we create opportunities across the spectrum for people that love the game. From youth who utilize golf to continue their education to adults that have one of their most memorable golf outings at an SCGA Junior event with our kids, it is very rewarding to implement and expand our junior initiatives.”
Kevin enjoys playing golf, watching football and spending time with his wife Kate, his son Nolan and their dog, Lou.
What has been your most memorable experience with SCGA Junior?
"Our scholarship interviews. It is so much fun to get to know youth from all different backgrounds as they prepare themselves for college. They all have a uniting interest in golf, but they are so unique in their talents. It is very rewarding to get to know these young people and watch them grow as they proceed through college. It was a true pleasure to see scholar Kristin Grimes win a State Championship in golf for her school College of the Canyons."
What do you love most about your current job?
"Bringing together people who love the game and who care about our community. I am fortunate to see how golf can play a positive role in a young person’s life while also helping donors, volunteers and board members give back to the game they love. Certainly, the opportunity to play golf as a part of the job is a perk too!"
