Unfortunately for golfers, golf isn’t like basketball or soccer where you can go play at the park free of charge. If you want to get some swings in, you’re going to have to fork over some money. And depending on how dedicated you are, and how nice the course is, it can get costly.
Looking for the right course for the right price is the same as any kind of shopping. All you have to do is look for the deals. Easy, right? Maybe not, but here’s some tips to get you started.
Tee Time Sites
Come on, it’s 2016. No one should have to tell you to use Google by now. You might have even used Google to find this article, so you’re probably already on the right track. It’s the most obvious, but it’s also the most efficient.
There’s hundreds of sites out there that do the legwork for you. All you have to do is spend a little time searching. Many of these sites have features where you can add in things such as how many golfers you have and what time you’re teeing off, and they will tell you the best course in your area for what you’re looking.
Twilight Playing
The best, and probably cheapest way of playing is play during twilight. Many courses have special twilight rates for golfers. They cut down the prices and the games go a little smoother, not to mention quicker.
Twilight rates usually come into effect anywhere between noon and 3 pm. Some courses even have lower rates if you come even later than that. Find out if your local course offers any special rates for later playing.
Play During the Week
This one might be a little tougher depending on your schedule, but that’s exactly why it’s cheaper. If you’re just absolutely itching to get out onto the course, just call out of work, grab your clubs, and take advantage of the cheaper price.
You were going to use that money on golf anyways, so it’s an even trade off! Just don’t let your boss see you.
Experience
Just get out there and play. Go to as many courses as you can and see what you like and what they have. Talk to people and make connections. Maybe you’ll even start getting some free games, who knows?
It’s the longest way, but you can’t trust anyone but yourself, so go sniff out your own deals.
