In today’s age of technology, there are many mobile apps that can make it easier for you to get out and play some golf. Whether it be a typical 18 hole round or even a quick 9 holes at a local public course, it is great to get out and enjoy some time on the links. Let’s take a look at some great golf apps to help your golf game.
GolfNow
Everyone knows about GolfNow and how easy they make it to book a tee time, but their mobile app is great too. Wherever you are, the app can look up the best deals on courses near you. The app can track your scoring statistics and even has GPS so it can give you yardages on the course. They also have a rewards section where you gather points from every round of golf that you book. Once these rewards points gather up, they will give you a discount off of your next tee time.
This is a must have app for anyone who is looking to play new courses and wants the best deals.
Caddio
Caddio is a great app that is kind of like the Yelp for golf. It is a crowd-sourced app that lets you view what other golfers have to say about a particular hole or course. There are many times when you are playing a course for the first time and you don’t quite know what the line might be off of the tee, so this app can serve as a yardage book/caddy for you. Best of all is it’s a free app.
V1 Golf
This is a great app that helps you view and analyze video of your swing. You can compare your swing to tour pros and send it to V1 Instructors to instantly get feedback on your game and how you can improve. It’s a great tool for someone who doesn’t have the time to take 1 hour golf lessons because you can simply take a video and send it right out to a certified instructor. You can also create a V1 profile that gives you a locker where you can store all of your videos plus videos from any tour pros.
The app is $4.99, but it is well worth the buy if you want to have quality feedback at your fingertips.
GolfLogix GPS
This is regarded as the best mobile phone golf GPS app out there right now. It is free to start, but of course they do offer a subscription that lets you take advantage of the full range of abilities from the app. GolfLogix offers statistical tracking and can keep score for up to four players. While on the course, the app has a built in golf news feed so you can stay up to date with all the tournament action without having to switch apps.
The Rules of Golf
The USGA offers the Rules of Golf app, which can be a useful app if you play a lot of tournament golf. It makes it super easy to find the issue that you are looking for by simply typing in a keyword and it will bring up all of the results instantly. No more shuffling through a tiny rules book for the answer anymore. The app is $3.99, so only buy it if you often find yourself in tight rule situations.
SkyCaddie SkyPro
This is a two part device, in which you need a mobile phone or a tablet to use. The device attaches to the shaft of your club and wirelessly sends information to your mobile device. It provides instant feedback and gives you numbers like all the tour pros have. It was awarded the 2015 best swing analyzer award by mygolfspy.com and it is backed my PGA professional Michael Breed.
It might cost you a bit at first, but over time it will start to pay you back with information that you can use to your advantage.
Golf GameBook
Scoring on a pencil and paper is a thing of the past (except on the PGA Tour), and this app is designed to make it easy for you to score your round completely on your mobile device. It connects and syncs across multiple devices so you can see how your buddies are doing back on the front nine. This is a perfect app if you head out to the course with multiple groups and it makes it easy for you to keep track of scores. It also features a comment section where you can send messages to anyone on the app. It’s free to download and should be an instant get for any golfer.
