Juniors play The Los Angeles CC with SCGA Foundation
The Los Angeles CC hosted the SCGA Foundation for a G.A.M.E. Day Monday, marking the second consecutive year the club has hosted the event. This year, 16 junior golfers joined 16 LACC members for a friendly round of golf and to enjoy one of the area's finest country clubs. The day began with a tour of the clubhouse, and the juniors heard from club President Mike McRoskey about the history of the prestigious club. The members and G.A.M.E. Club participants then got acquainted at breakfast before their shotgun start on the north course of LACC.
"All of the LACC members involved enjoyed the day with the GAME Day particpants," said club member John Fischer, son of SCGA Board Member Bob Fischer, who helped organize the event. "We were impressed with their golf, their enthusiasm, their positive attitudes and their respect for the game. We look forward to watching their progress and to having them back to LACC in future."
At the conclusion of the round, the juniors came back to the clubhouse for lunch and all spoke about the highlights of their day. Even though most juniors expressed that LACC was one of the most difficult courses they’ve played on, they all agreed it was one of the nicest facilities they'd been to and were thrilled to have learned from their mentors. Trey Woods, an SCGA Foundation Scholar and G.A.M.E. Club member said, “It’s nice to just have a day where I don’t have to worry about my score and be able to enjoy the beauty of the course.”
First-time G.A.M.E. Day participant Matthew Carungay shared that not only did he really enjoy playing the course, but that it was also the first time he had ever walked and carried his bag for 18 holes. More highlights of the day included 14-year-old Max Hagar’s 60-foot birdie putt on hole No. 3 and Nea Bennett’s eagle on the par 5 16th.
