Q: What is the Youth on Course club?

The Youth on Course Club provides junior golfers with an SCGA membership and an opportunity to become eligible for discounted golf rates at more than 145 facilities in Southern California upon becoming certified for the Golf Pass. Club members can also participate in monthly club outings, educational activities, and are eligible for the college scholarship program.

Q: What is a Club Outing?

SCGA Youth on Course hosts monthly Club Outings throughout Southern California for only $5-$20. These outings can include a golf clinic, a team tournament, a casual 9-holes, or a skills challenge competition. Club Outings are a great chance for members to get additional playing opportunities while meeting fellow junior golfers of similar age and ability levels.

Q: Does Youth on Course offer instruction?

Youth on Course offers an instruction program at three sites; Pico Rivera GC, Norwalk GC, and River Ridge GC. Juniors are grouped according to age and skill level and have a great opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf in a fun and educational environment. Learn more at

Q: What is the Golf Pass?

The golf pass is an affordable golf access program. The program creates affordable access to golf for youth by establishing $1-$5 green and $1-$2 range fees at local golf facilities during off-peak hours. There are currently more than 145 golf facilities participating in the program. Participants become eligible for the discounted rates upon successful completion of the online curriculum that includes golf rules, etiquette, the handicap system, and decision making. Q: How do I become a Youth on Course Club member?

You can sign up for the Youth on Course Club online at Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email with your SCGA membership number and instructions for logging into your Youth on Course account to complete the online certification quizzes. Upon successful completion of the quizzes, your Youth on Course golf pass credentials will be mailed to you.

Q: How much does it cost to be a Youth on Course member?

The membership fee is $50 and $25 for each additional junior sibling at the same address. The membership fee is for a calendar year from January through December. No matter what date during the year you sign up, the membership will expire on December 31st. The fee is reduced in half starting Aug. 1. You may apply for financial assistance by completing this application.

Q: I am already an SCGA Member through CIF. Does this mean I'm a Youth on Course member?

No. You will need to sign up with one of our online clubs if you are a CIF member and would like to have Youth on Course privileges. Your SCGA/GHIN membership number will remain the same. Please provide this number when applying for Youth on Course membership.

Q: What is the difference between Supervised and Unsupervised status?

All Youth on Course members are given Supervised status upon completion of the online curriculum. An adult must accompany Youth on Course members at all times when utilizing the program.

To receive Unsupervised status, a golfer must be at least 13 years of age and have an established Handicap Index. An Unsupervised golfer has proven that they have the golf ability and maturity to go to a facility on their own. This means that a golfer can play a round of golf at a normal pace of play, understands the rules of golf and appropriate golf etiquette. Q: How long does it take for my membership to be approved?

Your membership application will be processed within 5-7 business days. You will receive an email when your membership has been approved with instructions on how to log into the website to complete your online certification. Youth on Course credentials are mailed out within 3 business days following completion of the quizzes.

Q: Why have I not received the confirmation and/or further information e-mail if I have already made a payment?

If the primary email address listed when completing the membership application was that of the junior, the email was sent to that address, NOT the email address used when payment was made. Please contact to inquire about the status of membership or call 818-980-3630 and ask to speak with the Youth on Course department.

Q: How do I get my Youth on Course Golf Pass?

All Youth on Course Club members must take the online curriculum in order to receive the golf pass.

1) Log into the SCGA Youth on Course website with your SCGA Membership # (7-digits) and password. If you are logging in for the first time, your password is ‘password’. Please send an email to if you are having trouble logging in or need to have your password reset.

2) After you have completed the quizzes your credentials will be mailed to you within 3 business days.

Q: How long do the quizzes take?

The amount of time needed to complete the online quizzes varies, but it will typically take between 20-30 minutes to complete each quiz. The quizzes are based on age so the older you are, the more detailed the quizzes will be.

Q: Do you need to take the certification quizzes every year?

Yes, every member of Youth on Course must take all four certification quizzes each year they sign up for the program.

Q: How do I get my SCGA membership card?

1) If you signed up for a 2015 membership before Dec. 31, your SCGA membership card will be mailed to you with the January issue of FORE Magazine.

2) If you joined Youth on Course after Dec. 31, 2014, your membership card will be mailed with your golf pass upon successful completion of the online certification quizzes.

3) If you are a member of any of the following organizations, they will provide you with the membership card: Tiger Woods Learning Center, Pro Kids, Southern Area Youth Program, Grandfathers for Golf, and San Gabriel Junior Golf. Pro Kids, Southern Area Youth Program, and San Gabriel Junior Golf will also provide the bag tag.

Q: I forget my child’s SCGA number, where can I find this?

Q: Can we use the program after we have completed the quizzes, but before we receive the card and bag tag?

No, you MUST have both the membership card and bag tag with you to be able to have access to the discounted range and green fees.

Q: My child hasn’t used the membership, can I get a refund?

If you request a refund within three months of making payment and your child has not become certified for the program, you can request a refund.

Q: What do I need to bring with me to Youth on Course facilities?

In order to access the Youth on Course facilities, you must ALWAYS have both your SCGA membership card and Youth on Course golf pass (bag tag) to receive discounts.

Q: How long does my Youth on Course membership last?

Your Youth on Course membership lasts for one calendar year. Membership renewals begin in December. After Aug. 1 the membership fee for signing up through the SCGA Youth on Course website is reduced by half for the remainder of the year. The membership expires on December 31st of every year.

Q: How do I renew my Youth on Course membership?

You can renew your SCGA Youth on Course membership by logging into your Youth on Course account here with your SCGA membership number and password. You will be instructed to make a payment, and the membership fee is $50.

Once payment has been made, you will then need to take the online certification quizzes in order to receive the 2015 golf pass. The golf pass and SCGA membership card will be mailed directly to your home address upon successful completion. Additional junior siblings at the same address pay half the membership fee.

Q: What are the age restrictions for Youth on Course?

Junior golfers must be under the age of 18 to join. Eighteen-year-olds who are still in high school are eligible to join as well.

Q: Am I an SCGA member when I receive my membership card and Youth on Course golf pass?

Yes! As soon as the SCGA has provided you with a membership number (GHIN number), you are officially a member and will receive all of the privileges of SCGA Membership including an SCGA/USGA Handicap Index, a subscription to FORE Magazine, opportunities to play in SCGA Tournaments and Outings, and more. However, you will need to complete the certification quizzes in order to access the discounted rates through the golf pass program.

Q: I only received a 2015 bag tag, why didn’t I receive my 2015 SCGA membership card as well?

If you renewed your Youth on Course Club membership before January 7, your 2015 SCGA membership card will be mailed out with the January issue of FORE magazine.

Q: When will the January issue of FORE magazine arrive?

The January issue of FORE magazine will arrive after January 23.

Q: Why did I receive a 2014 SCGA membership card and not a 2015 SCGA membership card?

Since all 2015 SCGA membership cards will be mailed out with the January issue of FORE magazine, we wanted you to gain access to the discounted rates right away. The 2014 SCGA membership card and bag tag are valid at our participating facilities until January 31.

Q: How much longer are my 2014 SCGA membership card and bag tag good until?

The 2014 SCGA membership card and bag tag are valid at our participating facilities until January 31.

Q: I passed all four quizzes, what do I do next?

We will mail out your bag tag and 2015 SCGA membership card if you passed the quizzes after January 7 within 3-4 days of completion. Once you receive your bag tag and SCGA membership card you can start accessing the participating facilities right away.
