Six SCGA Members have advanced to the match play portion of the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, currently being held at Shadow Hawk GC in Richmond, Tx. Weekend weather issues pushed the conclusion of the second round of stroke play to Monday morning.
Leading the way for Southland golfers was Scott Stevens (pictured) of Encinitas, Calif., who concluded the two-round stroke play portion of the event with a two-under par 142, good enough for a tie for fifth place. Jimmy Chang of San Marino, Calif., finished in a tie for 13th with an even par 144.
Former two-time SCGA Amateur Champion Kevin Marsh also advanced to match play after shooting a two-over par 146. SCGA Members Gary Robinson, Mark Miller, and Tony Behrstock also advanced to the Round of 64, which will take place this afternoon.
