2002 California Golf Association Senior Amateur champion. Set records for low tournament round (67, tied the next day by Kemp Richardson) and low 54-hole total (211) in beating Richardson by two shots at Poppy Hills GC.
2000 SCGA Senior Amateur champion. Shot 73-71 - 144 at Mesa Verde CC to defeat Richard Davis by one shot.
1993 SCGA Four-Ball champion (with fellow Redlands CC member Mark Gardner).
Other Golf Achievements:
1969 California Amateur medalist. Shot 73-73 --146.
1977 California Amateur runner-up. Lost 2 and 1 in 36-hole championship match to Lee Mikels.
20-time Redlands CC champion.
Four-time San Bernardino City Amateur champion.
Notes:
Played in the U.S. Senior Open in 1998 and 2001 but missed the cut both times. Lyford is a member of the USGA’s Mid-Amateur committee.
