Boyd, Gordon capture 2012 Senior Four-Ball Net Championship


Ken Boyd of FedEx Employee GC and and Darryl Gordon of River Ridge Men's GC seized the 9th playing of the SCGA Senior Four-Ball Net Championship, a two-day event which was this year held at Robinson Ranch in Santa Clarita. The winning team shot rounds of 61 Monday and 66 Tuesday to take the title with a two-round total of 17-under par 127.

Dennis Campbell and Dennis Kaprielian of Crystalaire CC placed second in the championship, finishing with a two-day total of 16-under par 128. Michael Bell and Donald Younger III of Rancho Vista GC came in third. Fourth place went to Don Dayton and Tolbert Gross of Lands West GC and Glenn Bauer and Funston Smith of Shellback GC came in fifth, just four strokes back of the champions.

The four-ball net format uses the team’s best net score on each hole to come up with an 18-hole total. Competitors had to combat tough conditions at Robinson Ranch with temperatures reaching 95 degrees. The 36-hole championship was open to two-person teams, with both individuals over the age of 50 and having an active current Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4.
