In team play, if a player hits his ball potentially into the hazard is he able to go ahead of the group and search for his ball by himself or must he wait until all players have hit their ball and are ready to proceed to the area as a group?

In my opinion match play is a better option for the recreational golfer. It speeds up play and can be more more enjoyable.

Marcelasmith - After the 15th hole is played the status of the matches is adjusted by two holes and the excess club must be declared out of play

In the second scenario where your opponent had too many clubs in his bag and you discovered it on the 15th hole, what would then happen? What is the penalty in match play for that at that point in your match?

Great advice!  Match Play is not widely played, leaving many people without the experience or knowledge to correctly handle issues such as you described.  This video does an excellent job in explaining the proper procedures.
