Ilamont - A player can proceed under stroke and distance at anytime this is one of the options under Rule 27-1.  It does not matter where your ball came to rest.

My tee ball hits a tree and ends up unplayable in woods behind me.  Can I re-tee taking my one stroke penalty for an unplayable ball or because the ball ends up behind where I hit from originally must I choose one of the other two options for an unplayable ball? Thank you.

MBright - If the ball rolls back into its original, unplayable position, the ball is in play and must either be played as it lies, or re-dropped under an additional penalty stroke (basically proceeding under the Ball Unplayable rule again).

Great video - in the event that the ball rolls back to original unplayable position how many attempts at dropping the ball do you get before declaring it unplayable again?

geffler - The entire procedure is advised but not required.  It is recommended just to make sure the ball in dropped in the right place.  If the ball when dropped hits the club,  the ball must be re-dropped under Rule 20-2a.

Great video but is it required—or just advised—to use a tee to mark the spot where the ball is and where it should be dropped?  In the video, the club was still on the ground.  What happens if the ball is dropped and hits the club?  Re-drop?  Play it as it lies?

Interesting, I did not no that there were 3 options or the two club length distance for the drop of the ball. So many little things to learn.
