SCGA Executive Director Kevin Heaney was elected as a Member at Large to the International Association of Golf Administrators’ (IAGA) Board of Directors earlier this month at the Association’s Annual Meeting. He will serve a seven-year term.
“It's an honor to be elected to the board of the IAGA,” said Heaney. “Over the next 7 years I hope to work with fellow board members to respond to the needs of the membership and enhance the activities of the IAGA.”
The IAGA looks to promote and conserve the best interests and true spirit of the game of golf, as well as serve as a medium for golf administrators to exchange information, techniques and other data relating to the game.
Heaney has worked with the SCGA since 1984, working in many capacities including Director of Rules and Competitions, Director of Course Rating and Assistant Executive Director. He now leads one of the nation’s largest and oldest state/regional amateur golf associations, with more than 160,000 members in 1,235 clubs throughout Southern California and Baja California.
Also elected as IAGA Board members were President Joe Sprague of the Massachusetts Golf Association, Vice President Tom Ryan of the Minnesota Golf Association, Secretary Jay Fox of the Arkansas Golf Association, Treasurer Mark Hill of the Kentucky Golf Association and Member at Large Rob Addington of the Texas Golf Association. The Immediate Past President is Robin E. Jervey of the Colorado Women’s Golf Association.
