Individual Member Benefits

Monthly Computerized Indexes
Each member automatically receives a monthly computerized index on the first of each month. This index is used to calculate the player’s handicap at any course on the Slope system (nearly all courses in the U.S. now use Slope and the system is being adopted worldwide).

SCGA members may view their current index file of 20 scores, current and low indexes, and previous year’s posting history through the SCGA Web site’s Handicap section.

Members can also have their Handicap Index emailed to them at the end of each month through the SCGA I-Mail program.

Net Post
If the golf club authorizes this feature, SCGA members may post any score through Net Post on the SCGA Web site. The SCGA is proud to offer members this free service which allows them to keep track of golf scores and favorite courses online and post golf scores automatically.

Golfers Report Card
Each year the SCGA compiles individual members' posting statistics and produces the report card. This provides the member with their average number of rounds posted per month compared to their clubs average and the association’s average. Other information includes the total number of rounds posted during the year, number of home, away and tournament scores and a recap of the individual monthly indexes for that year.

Partner’s Program
The SCGA Partner’s Program is an opportunity for members to receive preferred pricing on numerous services and products.

Annual Index Card and Bag Tag
Once a year, each member receives two Index and Membership cards on which to record the monthly current and low indexes. These cards serve as verification of the player’s correct index (it must be validated by a club handicap official to be certified). One card fits into the member’s wallet. The other fits into a distinctive black plastic SCGA bag tag. Members receive their bag tag from their club when they join.

The SCGA Golf Course
SCGA members pay a reduced green fee at The SCGA Golf Course and can reserve tee times in advance of non-SCGA members.

Bimonthly Issues of FORE Magazine
Each member receives six issues a year of FORE Magazine, the SCGA’s award-winning official journal, which provides comprehensive coverage of amateur golf activities, resorts and tours, handicapping, Rules, pro and amateur tournaments, golf industry news, and other features.

Annual Southern California Directory of Golf
The Southern California Directory of Golf, published jointly by the SCGA and Southern California Section of the PGA, is an invaluable resource that includes listings of all southern California courses with their course and Slope ratings, play policies, green fees, and Slope charts applicable to both SCGA courses and to any course using the Slope system throughout the world. Other golf facilities and information about both associations is also included. This handy directory fits easily into a golf bag or glove compartment.

Special FORE Magazine Travel Supplements
Because so many SCGA members enjoy traveling, FORE Magazine publishes supplements each year on Arizona and Hawaii, and special sections on other popular travel locations, such as San Diego, the Coachella Valley, the Rocky Mountains, and the Pacific Northwest. Each section contains valuable information on which courses to play and golf packages available.

Eligibility to Participate in SCGA Tournaments
The SCGA conducts over 100 tournament days each year, most of which are open to only to SCGA members. Although some of the tournaments are limited to low-handicap players, others are open to middle and higher handicap golfers. In addition to individual tournaments, the association runs several tournaments for teams of two people or more.

Team Play
One of the oldest programs in the SCGA (in existence since 1900), Team Play promotes a sense of camaraderie, fellowship, and competition among the member clubs of the association. More than 6,000 individuals participate annually in this program.
