Tournament once again to benefit SCGA Foundation

6th Annual George Von Elm Memorial Charity Golf Tournament

For the 6th consecutive year, Rancho Park GC will host the George Von Elm Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, with proceeds once again benefitting the SCGA Foundation. The event, a two player best ball, will take place Saturday, Oct. 20.

Since 2007, the George Von Elm Memorial Tournament has raised more than $25,000 for both the Recreation & Parks Junior Golf Program as well as the SCGA Foundation. Each year, the event honors George Von Elm, who was inducted into the SCGA Hall of Fame in 2007.

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Von Elm won the SCGA Amateur Championship three times, as well as the 1926 U.S. Amateur title (beating Bobby Jones in the championship match). In 1925, he became the only player to ever win the SCGA Amateur, California Amateur and Northern California Golf Association Amateur titles in the same year. Von Elm served as head professional at Hacienda GC from 1950–1953 before returning to Utah to retire.
