Kent Keller elected 84th SCGA President
The Wilshire GC and Hideaway GC member was installed at the SCGA annual meeting. Longtime committeeman Tom McCutcheon was named winner of the Jim House Award, and Peter James, past SCGA President and incoming SCGA Foundation President, was given the Lynn Smith Award. Also, five individuals who influenced the game of golf were the second class inducted into the SCGA Hall of Fame.

Simply the Best
Glendora CC's Joan Higgins showcased just how good her game was when she won the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur and reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur.

New fall winners crowned
Monterey Park's Mas Matsumoto and Terry Fail of Santa Maria claimed the 9th SCGA Super Senior titles, while father and son duo Marco Sanchez and Marco Sanchez, Jr. of Balboa Park won the 29th SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship.

Big things in store for Casual Golf Days
The 2009 Casual Golf Days calendar is out and there are more than 40 fun events to choose from, including the Bob Hope Trail in the desert (play where the pros will play during the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic) and other private courses!

FORE Magazine, a bimonthly, award-winning golf journal, is the official publication of the Southern California Golf Association. For 109 years the SCGA has worked to preserve, protect and advance the game of golf in Southern California, and is one of the nation's oldest and largest regional golf associations with more than 1,200 member clubs and 170,000 individual members. The SCGA also founded the SCGA Foundation and runs The SCGA Golf Course in Murrieta, as well as supports SCGA E-Communications, a bi-weekly electronic newsletter sent to subscribing members.
