  • F.A.Q: Amateur Status

    This sections deals with questions regarding general amateur status questions

    1. I participated in an event that had prizes that exceeded $750 or the prizes were cash. I finished last and received no cash or prizes, have I violated my amateur status?
    2. What is the limit (retail value) of a conforming prize?
    3. What are some examples of prizes that an amateur may accept?
    4. What are some examples of prizes that an amateur may NOT accept?
    5. If a players competes in a hole-in-one, closest to the hole, long drive or putting contest for a cash prize, is he considered to be "playing for prize money"?
    6. Is participating in a PGA Players Ability Test (PAT) a vilolation?
    7. What paid positions may a person hold without jepardizing their amateur status?
    8. A person performs the normal duties of a shop clerk, gives no instruction and otherwise does not violate the rules except by calling himself an assistant professional. Has he forfieted his amateur status for identifying himself as a professioanl?
