LIVE ROUND 3 SCORING
Mark Nickeas of Lake Sherwood, Ca. posted a second-round score of 74 at the CGA Senior Amateur Championship Tuesday, but on a day where only one player shot under a 73 it was enough to maintain a lead heading into the final round of action. Nickeas, who is now at 1-under par, boasts a six-stroke lead over Jeff Burda, who sits in second place and will need a large comeback in order to win his fourth straight CGA Senior title.
Nickeas' 74 followed a round of 69 yesterday, while Burda has now shot rounds of 76-73.
John Hoffman of San Diego sits in third place, seven strokes back of the lead, while Herb Jensen of Carmichael and Gary Singer of Newport Beach find themselves tied for fourth (+7).
Tuesday concluded the team competition, where the NCGA bested the SCGA 455 to 482. The winning NCGA team consisted of Jim Knoll, Mark Miller, Casey Boyns and Jeff Burda. The SCGA team consisted of Howie Knodt, Boyd Martin and Don Ludwig.
