The Course: Poppy Hills Golf Course, Pebble Beach

As the site of many golf prestigious golf tournaments and home to the Northern California Golf Association, Poppy Hills Golf Course has played host to the CGA Senior Amateur Championship for 15 years now.

In 1986, the NCGA opened its own members course, Poppy Hills, which was the first course in the United States to be owned and operated by an amateur golf association. Poppy Hills has played host to several prominent tournaments, including the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, the CIF-CGA State High School Boys Golf Championship, and, as of 1994, the CGA Senior Amateur Championship. Poppy Hills is consistently ranked among the top courses throughout the United States.

The 6,857-yard Robert Trent Jones, Jr. layout will have players meandering through the pine trees that border the Monterey Peninsula. With five par-3 holes and five par-5s, greens are large, rolling and undulating and, as Trent Jones said at the time, "People think the green is the target, but It's not. The hole is the target."
