1 – Friendship
Golf is generally a game we play on our own, we play for ourselves instead of for a team and yet the friendships that are created by golf can last a lifetime. You can play golf with a complete stranger and yet after just 18 holes you can sit down and enjoy a friendly drink and begin planning when you are next going to join up and head out to the fairways.
2 – Tradition
The very backbone of golf and the reason it is so popular is the tradition that is maintained, especially at the large well established courses, dress codes and on course etiquette are so important to a seasoned golfer. This attention to detail is only really found within golf these days.
3 – Honesty
Unlike many sports, soccer to name but one, honesty in golf is truly a blessing and almost unique to the game, in what other professional sport would you witness a player calling a penalty on themselves, which could result in disqualification or a loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
4 – It is never boring
Golf is one of the few games that is different every single time you play it. It does not matter if you play the same course repeatedly you rarely play the hole the same way twice.
5 – Culture
The culture of golf much like the tradition is unique to the game. It doesn´t matter where you are in the world you will always find golfers trying to win the never-ending battle in the search of perfection.
6 – The variety of styles
Football is football wherever you play it, but golf is played on so many surfaces and designs. From parkland to links courses, desert course to sanded greens the pure spectrum of golf course design is incredible.
7 – Time to ourselves
Golf as previously mentioned is a solitary sport in the sense that we play alone, but the general game is played in groups. If you have had a particularly bad week then heading off to the course late in the afternoon or early morning can do us the world of good as we can get some much needed “me” time away from the stress and strains of everyday life. You can lose yourself in the game.
8 – Nature
The sheer expanse of golf courses and where they meet nature gives golfers a rare opportunity to really marvel at the wonders of nature, with no extra cost to do so. Enjoy all of golf not just the game
9 – Family time
Golf can be enjoyed by the whole family whether it is a golf mad family that loves to walk the links or a family that heads down to mini golf on a Sunday afternoon.
10 – The challenge
Golf presents everyone a challenge and the beauty of the game is that the challenge can be shared by professionals and amateurs alike, and at the same time. An amateur golfer can compete against a professional and have a chance of walking away victorious thanks to the wonderful handicapping system that we have.
There is no other sport where amateurs can compete against a professional and stand the chance of winning.
