The 24th SCGA Affiliate Team Championship begins Monday at La Purisima GC in Lompoc. This 36-hole championship consists of two person teams made up of Affiliate Club members. The championship is open to two-person teams, with both players members of an SCGA Affiliate Club (not necessarily the same club), and each having active current Handicap Indexes not exceeding 24.4 All players will play 18 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
On Monday, teams will play Four-Ball Net (two person better ball). Each individual will play to 90% (Men) and 95% (Women) of their Course Handicap. After the 90%/95% reduction, if partners’ Course Handicap differs by more than 8 strokes, an additional 10% reduction will be applied to their Course Handicap.
Then, on Tuesday, teams will be playing the Pinehurst Format. Each partner drives from the tee and then plays the second shot with the other’s ball. After the second shots, the team selects which ball it wishes to score with and plays that ball alternately to complete the hole. The player with the lower Course Handicap is allowed 60 % of their Course Handicap. The player with the higher Course Handicap is allowed 40% of their Course Handicap. The total of both partners’ Course Handicaps (Team Course Handicap) is deducted from the Team Gross Score at the end of the round.
