Team Play Competition
This competition is open only to regular member clubs maintaining at least one 18-hole golf course of at least 5,000 yards in length. Participating clubs may enter one 16-man team in either a Thursday or Saturday league or both for each qualifying course they maintain. Clubs are arranged in groups of four and their respective 16-man teams play a series of six home and away matches within their assigned group. All competition includes both single and four-ball match play. Group winners then meet in single elimination play-offs, culminating in an 18-hole Championship between the final two teams.

Palm Desert, Calif. - Bears do indeed love heat.
Despite temperatures reaching 100 degrees throughout the afternoon, Bear Creek GC of out Murrieta prevailed to defeat Woodland Hills CC 35-13 Friday to capture the 2012 SCGA Thursday Team Play Championship at Classic Club. "It is a privilege to capture one of the finest SCGA Championships," Bear Creek captain Bob Clark stated. "To reach the finals is great, but to win is the best feeling."
Players were challenged over the 6,226 yard layout, which previously hosted the Humana Challenge. Bear Creek jumped out to a quick 9-3 lead led by David Wooding of Bear Creek's round of 70. The rout continued and Mike Giddings clinched the title for his team by winning his match over Dominick Bruno of Woodland Hills. This is the first title for Bear Creek for Thursday Team Play since 2000. Woodland Hills was attempting to win their first title since 1966, but fell short.
