MPCC Hole 7

Placed upon more than 450 acres of beautiful Monterey Peninsula coastline, MPCC's Dunes and Shore Courses promise to provide players of the CGA State Amateur Championship a visually stunning layout and scenery to boot. See the full story on this modern classic HERE. The stroke play rounds of the CGA State Amateur championship will be played on both courses.

Seth Raynor's Dunes Course opened in 1926, and was the second course in the Del Monte Forest following Pebble Beach, serving as one of the original host venues for the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am before Spulass Hill replaced it in 1967. In 1999, Rees Jones renovated the layout, the first completed renovation project in a series the club has gone through in recent years.

The more inland Dunes Course features views of Santa Cruz and is nestled by the rocks of popular landmark Point Joe. Its 177-yard, par-3 14th hole plays over the waves of the Pacific Ocean.

The Shore Course, site of the final match play rounds of the championship, will give players a true test of golf. At 6,739 yards, the layout, originally constructed in 1961 by Bob Baldock, was redesigned in 2004 by late golf course architect Mike Stranz.

Ocean views begin from the first tee and its downhill tee shot, and while Stranz preserved the original routings of the first four holes during his redesign, the fun will really begin on the fifth hole. A 340-yard par 4, hole 5 is driveable but the consequences could be dire, as bunkers and lateral water hazards frame the hole.
