The Course: Marbella Country Club
Tucked in the hills of San Juan Capistrano, the private Marbella CC is an 18-hole Jay Morrish and Tom Weskopf-designed course that is tough yet playable for all skill levels. "The rolling fairways and dramatic elevation changes will challenge your shot-making skills," the course says, "while well-placed bunkers and lakes are ready to claim errant shots. Spectacular ocean views will test your focus, as will our undulating greens."
Feature holes include 17, which advises: aim your tee shot towards the electrical tower that is partially obscured in the distance. OB sits to the right of the cart path and red stakes are left of the bunkers. If you can hit a rope over the right edge of the front bunker the green opens up nicely. The two tier green gives yet another opportunity for shot making. If the flag is left hit the middle and it will drain down towards the pin.
The 18th hole offers views of Dana Point Harbor: Fire away at this lovely finishing hole. The bunker at the left sits 155 from the center and guards some shots from going OB. When hitting into the green don't over club this downhill shot as OB is marked by the cart path. If the flag is in the bowl to the left, aim left short of the middle and let it roll towards the pin.
This is the second year that Marbella has hosted the Parent/Junior Championship.
