Four leading at 74th SCGA Amateur Net Championship after first round at Industry Hills

APRIL 29 -- Four golfers are leading their respective flights in the 74th SCGA Amateur Net Championship after the first round at Industry Hills Golf Club.

J.P. Iriart of Alta Loma, playing to a 5 handicap, shot a gross 68 over the Eisenhower Course in the President Flight. His net 63 is two shots ahead of Michael Sheehan of San Diego.

In the Vice President Flight, Richard Marion of Corona posted a net 65 over the Zaharias Course and is a shot ahead of Harlan England of Palmdale and Butch Caigoy of San Dimas.

In the Secretary Flight, Jeff Jorgensen of Garden Grove shot a net 66 and leads Frank Toledo of Walnut by one shot.

In the Treasurer Flight, Michael Ireland of Redlands's net 64 over the Zaharias Course gives him a five-shot lead over Satoshi Ito, Long Beach and Simon Saucedo, Jr., San Diego.

Nine players, including all four leaders are having their course handicaps reduced for the second round, based on the SCGA's Exceptional Tournament Play Policy: "The SCGA reserves the right to adjust a player's handicap prior to or during any net competition based upon previous performances in SCGA events. If a player shoots significantly better than his or her handicap index, that player's course handicap may be subject to reduction in future SCGA net events (including Team Play). If the SCGA has to reduce the same player a second time, that player may be refused future entry to SCGA events."
